WARREN, MI-- The
Macomb Daily have teamed up with the Warren
Civic Theatre to bring the many characters and lands
of Dr. Suess to life the first two weekends of August.
In SUESSICAL -THE MUSICAL, audiences
will revel in such timeless Suess characters as
the Cat In The Hat, Horton The Elephant, Mayzie
the Bird, Yertle The Turtle, The Grinch, his dog
Max, the rascally Wickersham Brothers and yes, even
the Who's and their whole tiny Who town.
Creatures from The Jungle Of Nool,
McElligot's pool and the Sour Kangaroo also make
their voices heard throughout the show.
A program of Warren Parks and Recreation,
the show features a cast of over 150 professional
and student theatre artists and showcases residents
from across the metro area. The show features an
orchestra consisting of selected members of the
Warren Symphony and Warren Concert bands.
The
show interweaves several of the more famous Dr.
Suess books, but the storyline generally follows
"Horton Hears a Who" and "The Butter
Battle Book". The show was recently on Broadway
with actress Rosie O'Donnell portraying the Cat.
Portraying the Cat in the Warren Civic
Theatre's version is Jerome Porkorney of Warren.
Jojo, a young "who" who gets in trouble
for thinking is portayed alternatedly by Jillian
Bundy and Kendall Pennington.
The lead character of the show, Horton
the Elephant, is brought to life by seasoned veteran
actor/singer Leon Anderson Jr.

- Friday, August 5 & 12, 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, August 6 &13, 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday August 7 & 14, 2:00 p.m
in the The Warren Woods Auditorium;
located in the Warren Woods Middle School at 12
Mile Road and Schoenner [map].
Additionally, the Sunday August 7th Matinee is "Macomb
Daily Kids Day", where all pre-purchased tickets
are $2.00 off.
Tickets are available for $10.00,
$6.00 and $4.00 (except for prepurchased Sunday
August 7, which are $8, $4 and $2) and can be charged
